My cats do this thing where you see them outside, they meow at you, and so you stand there with the door open only to have them take their sweeeeeeeet time ambling toward the door. Then when they finally get to the door, they take a whole minute just to cross the door cill to make sure the coast is clear. Personally, I think they do it on purpose just to remind us of our place.

Nahh, this isn't like Tom and Jerry. First of all, Tom and Jerry didn't talk, and second, the character designs look much more like a Hanna-Barbera TV cartoon from the 1960s. Actually, listening to Garfield's commentary, this is partly a criticism of cheap televison cartoons: "And they've run past that same table about 20 times." Great writing by Mark Evanier! :P

lol I use to watch this show so much (repeatedly) when i was little that they nick- named me Buzzy lol...hate it but it was great to see this cartoon again!

Interesting that Katnip did double duty in the Noveltoon--both as Herman's adversary and also Buzzy's. In the Harvey comics it was a blue-colored cat (whom I don't believe was ever named) who was always at odds with Buzzy, not brown-colored Katnip, who had his "paws" full with Herman!

I actually have the redubbed version on a VHS somewhere as I recorded it from Boomerang. They did a terrible job adding stuff as you can hear the original music at times underneath the new music. Just leave it to Harveytoons to do something silly, back in the 50's (I think it was then) they made Popeye shorts that basicly re-used old shorts except they were re-dubbed, re-scored, and shortened.

This cartoon was shown on "Casper & Friends" back in 1991 where they had the same cartoon with those horrible redubbed voices, screw the producers of the show to put those awful musical underscores and those god awful voice acting redoing those characters, this sucks! No opening titles, no end titles, that sucks! Thankfully, you've found this original cartoon with all of the original music and voices intact.

This was originally released as a Paramount "Noveltoon" in November 1951, directed by Seymour Kneitel, with story by Carl Meyer & Jack {"Popeye"} Mercer, and music by Winston Sharples. Sid {"Baby Huey"} Raymond is "Katnip", and Jackson {"Bluto"} Beck is "Buzzy". The sequence from 2:33-4:12 was later reused in "Katnip's Big Day" (1959).

They were all released on home video [except "The Stupidstitious Cat"] by Worldvision in the mid-80s, I was lucky enough to find it at Ebay a few years ago, it's GREAT!!
