that has nothing to do with Karate...never the less it is amazing!! this kid is clearly extremely acrobatic and agile...and all of that looks very nice...but it's not meant for fighting...it's for demonstration purposes only....I don't think he would be stupid enough to try a 720 kick on someone during a competition or actual street fight...he would get knocked down so quickly...I doubt anyone would just stand there and let this kid flip around 10 times and then kick you in the face....

@irkiIIer actually "os" does not exist in the japanese language. "s" is not a vowel so it cannot be alone, it must have a vowel in front of it which is "u" so it would be "osu" for imitating the sounds. the "u" isn't heard as much as the "os" but it is there. You shouldn't try to correct someone without knowing the japanese vocabulary :T

@XxXkArNaGeXxX1 No it's not >:( Karate (depending of what style, there are many vastly different ones) is very good for your self-esteem and over-all physical fitness.. I was super calm and collected when I practiced it intensively a few years back, such a great feeling especially after practice when you're all beaten up from full(ish) contact sparring etc... Our karate is/was mostly very practical, with hints of Jujutsu/judo & muay thai boxing. We rarely did that meditation BS, maybe 1/month.

Those are the "roots". then we have loads of other styles like Wechi-Ryu and Shotokai etc etc etc. The world of Karate is really vast and that makes it unique :) There is no better or worse fighting styles. There are better and worse karatekas

When you watch kata it may seem like simple movements but pretty much each one is a way to break a bone etc. Kata is used to remember moves, to practice spirit etc. This is not how a person in karate would fight someone who did not do karate.

Looks a lot like Naihanchi Shodan from Shidokan. I agree that Kata is not a waste of time. My fighting ability has taken off since I started Karate, and Kata makes the movements second nature, increasing the probability that you'll actually use them while sparring/fighting. The hidden movements become apparent in bunkai's and oyo bunkai's and are usually deadly movements (arm breaks, nech breaks, knee breaks etc...)

kung fu good if your trying to imoblize your oppentents ie break bones. tae kwon doe great if you have long legs and are remotely flexible and you are fighting an oppentent with superior hand fighting or reach. street fighting great if you have long and powerful arms but, you need to get in closer than you would for kicks hence you need to be able to take pain. jinjitsu (apoligez for any miss spell) better for going to ground fighting and going against a much larger oppenent.

I played the Atari 800 version to death when I was a kid. Absolutely loved it to pieces. There are even times when I still prefer IK over most modern post-SF2 fighters. I'm definitely downloading the Virtual Console version of this game.,,,,yeeeh!!

@penyumerah02 there are some martial arts that may work better in a fight than others but any martial art will make you much better off than someone who has not done any, im a third dan in karate, but have trained in ju-jitsu, kickboxing, and tai kwon do, they will all be effective although you have to be really practised in ju-jitsu for it to be effective

@penyumerah02 your accumulating every martial art because of kick boxing? because correct me if i am wrong all i see in boxing is the punches being thrown but in martial arts they focuses there punches and kicks and make every hit count so unless you actually know about martial arts and how far its gotten in history i wouldn't be taking jabs if i were you

for, doesnt matter what kind of martial arts u've perform, in the real fight it will be the kick boxing anyway..all the styles, the beautiful kata, punches & kicks formation will be mess up..in my opinion, any martial art u've learned, it is all about create the flexibility,reflexibility and the strengh of the body & mind. it is also trained u to get use to any fight, gain the experience & confident to face the real fight..all the styles n technics wont be used in real fight, only experience.

@Jaykaylayhayfay that's why kimbo got beat some guy who simply kicked him in the face and kimbo fell. but i do agreee with you about Tkd and karate not being very effective in real fight simple because they rarely punch. tkd and karate are most effective when combined with another fighting style such as boxing, muay thai, etc. etc.

Taekwondo is Shotokan Karate with more development on the kicks in how to get the most out of them to put it blunty (please don't hate, I know there's more to it than that). It's a true fact though, Taekwondo is similar to Shotokan Karate (my style). And if you don't believe me, go look up Taekwondo on Wikipedia and you'll see the founder of TKD was actually 2nd Dan in Shotokan Karate.

Stiff muscles, less flexibility, easier target. Fluidity is what matters the most. It's easier to take a punch if you're not tensed up.

@666Russel999 look at the kick tae kwondo kick TKD is a little Linear straights from the foot then circular karate is circular.. basically TKD uses Momentum while karate kicks uses centrifugal effects.
