Well, It doesn't disprove my point of this representing an actual magical ritual and all I said. Anyone can believe whatever they want, but if I were you, I'd watch Disney's work with a critic eye. The best way to hide something is to put it right in front of you. Massive media is the best way to manipulate and control.

Maybe walt wanted to put in broom sticks and maybe he wanted to show that Yensid or the magician was good with that butterfly, ever think of that? That`s very impressive, in an awful way. I didn`t know about that. I knew Walt had challenged to some of their draftmen to put in pictures what they could feel listening to several masterpieces of music, and that's how Fantasia begun at. Well, an interpretation of this is a critic to capitalism, where mickey and the broom stick represents the capital system and it gets completely out of hand. Other is, have u ever seen the costume of a real sorcerer of the dark ages? guess what? is exactly like the magician here, and what this cartoon represents is an actual magickal ritual. Part 3 explains Fantasyland, and includes the "Laughing Place" scene from Song of the South, the first Mickey Mouse cartoon "Plane Crazy" and the reading of the famous line "...that it was all started by a mouse."

Well, Walt doesn't talk about Fantasyland too much. He discusses Disneyland and the hopes of it and compares it to what Uncle Remus calls a Laughing Place (hence, the scene in the movie, which was also shown on an episode on villains, called "Our Unsung Villains").

This is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. A few years go I was lucky enough to meet Nick Stewart who played the voice of Br'er Bear. He was one of the nicest people I met in Lost Angeles. I just wish I had asked him more about this film and the other actors. I know some of the film might be considered stereotyping, but Disney should rerelease this one again. James Basket and Bobby Driscoll alone are worth seeing it again. And let's not forget the great Hattie McDaniel.

It's weird, but Mickey never really resonated with me as a character until I saw this show on DVD a while ago. Something about the wistful way Walt describes him in the second half sorta' softened my heart to the lil' guy.

Correction to your correction, but Walt was a genius when it came to story and character, and Ub was a genius when it came to animation and technology. Walt would've never gotten Mickey off the ground without Ub's talented and FAST help, and Ub could never get his own cartoons off the ground because his stories were weak and his characters unlikeable compared to Walt's.

no steamboat willie was the first with this sound thingy i forgot wat it was called...but anyways, this was aired on may 15 1928, while steamboat willie was aired on november 18 1928. and yes i do agree that mickey would be popular, no doubt, but ths specific cartoon wasn't popular as it should be, steamboat willie was more popular even though it wasnt the first one, i just think this one should be more popular than steamboat willie
