@DarPower1 ... story was just a re-hash of Superman..with a few exceptions. 1 - the whole idea of Luthor getting land didn't make sense, all he had were crystal islands that killed millions 2 - the introduction of Super-kid was pointless 3 - The whole idea that Superman would disappear without telling anyone for years, was ludicrous 4 - Picking up an entire island of kryptonite was insane 5 - Superman was portrayed as confused and listless Shall I go on? And yes, the costume sucked too.

@Roper122 Well the story wasnt that bad, its was the screen play that fucked. the story was just superman1 with a kid and a husband. i didnt find any plotholes (except for the fact that it barely connected with the 3 and 4). superman was fine it was Lois who sucked and his suit colors. the story is superman 1, Lex tries to get land, and uses Kryptonite to defeat him, ultimately a woman saves him so that he can lift the problem into space. Same story, it was just the way we got there was bad!

BTW, I was watching another old Superman cartoon yesterday from GrimbotThe3rd named "Destroy the Defendroids" from 1988. It really insults the viewer's intelligence. Superman does stuff and "rescues" Clark from inside a motor home that is buried by a river of lava. A lava-encased vehicle that never melts! Its amazing how these old videos creators must have felt viewers were all too stupid to notice illogical events like that.

You have to remember that in the early 1960s the scientists may not have discovered that lead was a deadly toxin if absorbed into the human body. I was a teenager in the late 70s, and that was around the time when the U.S. and other countries started dealing with health problems caused by exposure to asbestos. I can't remember when lead poisoning become a really big health issue. At any rate, Superman is only as smart as the writers are who did episode/movie scripts and production.

You know, you have to hand it to them, for that era of American media especially, they really made Lois a strong female character. She gets captured, sure, that's Hero Story 101, going back to Perseus rescuing Andromeda from the Sea Monster or King Arthur and his Knights rescuing damsels in distress, Robin Hood rescuing Maid Marian... I really do agree, animation and details in these cartoon are superb. Even lip synch is perfectly detailed and colors are brilliant. Totally different from cartoons of these days wich are just rushed out fast as possible and with easiest way possible.

Batman is only another member of a popular Pulp hero archetype with predecessors such as Zorro and the Shadow. Not to mention there's elements that actually are unique to Superman as a character such as the fact that he's an alien that was raised on Earth, the Fortress of Solitude, and the fact that he's (or rather, was originally) the last of his race.

I know man. Just like most cartoons in the 40's depicted black people as being dumb and literally black, with huge lips. No, it's racist, and designed to stir up negative feelings against the Japanese, not just the nation. Lois knew the saboteurs were hijacking the plane because they weren't white, not because they had guns in view, or anything. And she called them "Japs". The whole film, despite the gorgeous animation, stinks of racism and jingoism.

I always liked his animated incarnations, but Supes is definitely not an interesting superhero. He's TOO perfect. Nothing can stop him, his powers adapt to any problem, and he has no emotional or mental flaws. The reason Batman has gained much more popularity is precisely because of his human flaws and his weaknesses. He can't evade bullets, he can't fly, he just does what he can without powers. He has a fragile and sometimes cold mind, because he's more of a real person.

They all reprised their roles from the original 1940s radio series as well as the Fleischer/Famous Studios Paramount animated film shorts. @0:40 this Superman looks more like an anatomical illustration, than a exagerrated cartoon. Kurt Swan was the original creator of this facial body type. No disrespect to all of the other Superman characters. He has a I.F.B.B. physique, but moves almost as if he is Rotoscoped. I could be wrong, but it looks as though Lou Scheimer and Norm Prescott were going for this effect.

a bit yeah. but that intro was used in the 40s Fleischer cartoons, the radio show, the 1950s show and this cartoon. I think it's even used in the 1988 cartoon. And it's referenced in practically every other version of the character. What would Superman be without that intro? hehe.
